So this guy walks into a bar...

There was no thesis when this all began, no end goal, no project to speak of. It was just a cold, wet evening in March and I walked into the bar and said, "I want to learn how to drink."

And that's how it's been for almost a year. I take notes, I read the Bar Book, and I've tried to write a few blog posts from time to time. But it's always been about sitting there in the bar, nothing else.

After about a year, though, I'm beginning to put the pieces together. But it's less like a puzzle, more like a Lego set. I'm building, and I'm not following a blueprint. It's an exercise in self-exploration, with unequal parts academics, emotion, curiosity, and a few other things being muddled and shaken together.

And after about a year, I'm looking back and thinking maybe there should have been a goal, a project, some sort of thesis. But it's too late for that now, so I'm picking up the pieces now and building from memory.

It's on its way soon. We'll see how it goes.

Cheers,
Peter Shelly
